Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT)

What is Craniosacral Fascial Therapy?

Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) is a very gentle, hands on therapeutic approach.

What is Fascia?

Fascia is the body’s connective tissue, an all-encompassing web found throughout the body that protects the entire body as a whole. It surrounds organs, muscles, brain, spinal cord and all other body parts for protection from outside trauma.

How does fascia become tight?

Beginning at birth, traumas accumulate and can create strain and toxicity in the craniosacral fascial system, restricting critical brain motion. Damage to the craniosacral fascial system can affect the flow of cerebrospinal fluid which helps nourish and detoxify the body and brain. It can also limit range of motion, and cause a host of other ailments.

How does CFT enhance the benefits of Myofunctional Therapy?

Craniosacral Facial Therapy can complement Myofunctional Therapy in order to improve issues with speech, eating and airway. With the release of tension in the craniosacral fascia, CFT facilitates a supportive environment for the muscles involved in speaking, eating, and breathing.

Who can benefit from CFT?

CFT is an effective therapeutic approach for all ages. You or your child may benefit from CFT if you present with any of the following challenges/conditions:

Tongue tie-lip tie

Inability to latch

Difficulty sucking

Difficulty swallowing

Tongue thrust

Thumb/finger sucking

Prolonged pacifier use
